I’ve visited before and have bought the Singapore tourist pass for the MRT the basic 3-day $30 pass, not the one with extras. But I’ve realised that on those previous visits I happened to be staying close to MRT stations that had a Transit Link ticket office - they were my nearest stations, in fact - which made buying and renewing them easy. This won’t be the case on the next visit; it will be a bit of a trek to the nearest TransitLink ticket office. So I’m wondering if it might be worth getting an EZ-Link card instead. The cost of 3 Tourist Passes for 9 days would be $60 each, of course, or maybe $70 if we don’t manage to get the last ones handed in. I understand that the cost of using EZ-Link will depend on how often we use the MRT, and that’s unknown at the moment but I would expect us to take several rides a day. Really, I’m attracted by the ease of getting the EZ-Link card at convenience stores, for example as against having to find an open Transit Link ticket office, several times during the holiday. What do people think? Finally, an on-line search found a stray reference to Automated Kiosks for the Tourist Pass, but there’s no mention of it on the Tourist Pass website. Have they vanished? Also I know that I could get the first Tourist Passes on arrival at Changi, but to be honest after a 13 hour flight I won’t be in a state to do that, nor will be my wife be amused if I try to do so. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago Just get the normal Ezlink card. You can't make use of the full value of the tourist pass, unless you spend more time on MRTs and buses rather than at the tourist attractions. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago The EZLINK link card is almost always the best option Level Contributor 9,618 posts 4. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago EZ-link card without a doubt. It's cheap, hugely convenient, and can even be used in 7/11 outlets. So it costs $5 non-refundable charge, which will be made good by the savings you make on single fare trips. It's probably the best 5 bucks you'll ever spend. Good luck and enjoy. Alan. While the tourist pass is very convenient it has a large deposit that must be recovered or cannot if you buy the card abroad. It also is expensive in comparison to using an EZlink although still cheap. Finally, and this is the main issue for you - it works for 72hrs maximum. The EZlink has a 5SGD non-returnable cost and the rest of the price is travel credit but it offers cheaper usage costs than buying standard tickets. The more you use it, the more of that 5SGD you recover. The card lasts for 5 years, so can be used on a return visit - at least it lasts for the full 5 days you are in Singapore. If you wish to you can reutrn the card when you leave to refund unused travel credit. The EZlink can also be used to pay for entrance to Sentosa island by either boardwalk or monorail routes, several taxi types will take it although you must always check before the taxi moves off that they can take it SMRT is the main user - and is useable in a few stores as well. Overall it fits more people better than the tourist pass, and you fall into that category in my opinion. Level Contributor 27 posts 6. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago thanks every one for the reply Since we r 3 people do i need to buy 3 ez link card? If yes then in that case 15S$ is blocked/nonrefundable. Just let me know the average expenditure in mrt/lrt/bus for travelling to the various attraction from little india. As per the best of my research jurong and the zoo is the farthest while sentosa is much do i spend both ways if i am travelling to jurong bird park thru mrt/lrt/bus??Also let me know how much is the cost to sentosa via mrt /lrt/busexcluding the sentosa express thank you Level Contributor 61,585 posts 123 reviews 4,381 helpful votes 7. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago An EZ-Link card costs S$12, inclusive of a S$5 non-refundable card cost and a S$7 card value ready to use right after purchase. The EZ-Link card is a contactless smart card based on the Sony FeliCa smartcard technology and used for the payment of public transportation fares in Singapore, The card is commonly used in Singapore as a smartcard for paying transportation fees in the city-state's Mass Rapid Transit MRT, Light Rail Transit LRT and public bus services Level Contributor 17,660 posts 18 reviews 120 helpful votes 8. Re singapore tourist pass or the ez link card 10 years ago You need an EZlink pe person. The 5SGD refundable value is clawed back by the 30 to 40cent kind of saving per trip - so after 10-15 trips you will have saved that much back or a fraction of that for travelling less. For the zoo and Birdpark I would really probably dive into a taxi - that 15-20SGD each way more in peak hour while the cost for bus and MRT will be only about 2SGD per person but the public transport route can take 90mins plus each way as opposed to the 20-30for the taxi - thats 2hrs lost. As for expenditure, I just did 9 days in Singapore last month and got through 20SGD of travel credit on my EZlink in that time - we used taxis for the zoo, bird park and night safari but most other attractions and moving round the city we either walked or used the MRT.
